National Public Health Week Webinar: Converging Environmental Crises
Dr. Joel Kreisberg will speak on: Health care, water and environmental consequences of pharmaceutical consumption
Researchers at The Ohio State University College of Public Health have gathered some of the world’s most brilliant minds for a conversation on the state of our planet’s health. “Converging Environmental Crises” is a Web-based conference on current environmental and public health concerns. Environmental topics include: energy depletion, climate change, water and food scarcity and unrestrained population growth. Participants from around the world will weigh in on environmental issues during this interactive and paperless discussion. The discussion will be based in Columbus, but link to sites around the U.S. and Canada. The event is being facilitated by the Ohio Supercomputer Center.

Sustainability & Healthcare
The health of individuals and their environment is inextricably linked. In order to ensure the longevity of both, it is important for medical and mental health professionals to begin to understand and practice principles of sustainable healthcare. This course introduces the principles of sustainability, from historical development to current paradigms. Participants will be introduced to several notable “green” efforts in the healthcare field, including the use of safer medical supplies and materials and the reduction of toxic medical waste.
