Average American Newborn Suffering Heavy Body Burden

Blood samples from the umbilical cords of ten infants born between August and September, 2004 were tested proving that the average baby delivered in America is born with over 200 chemicals and pollutants in their system. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) study finds that these toxic contaminants are derived from everyday product ingredients, as well as wastes from burning coal, gasoline, and garbage.

Here is how YOU can reduce the ‘The BodyBurden’:
  • Eat fewer processed foods as many contain chemical additives
  • Eat organic food
  • Do not microwave food in plastic containers – use glass / ceramic
  • Use filter for water purification
  • Eat less meat and high fat dairy products
  • Reduce number of cosmetics and Personal Care products
  • Avoid artificial fragrances
  • Eliminate Use of Stain repellants on clothes, bedding, and upholstery
  • Reduce household cleaners – use natural products or soap and water
  • Avoid gas powered yard tools – use manual or electric
  • Eat seafood low in PCBs

Some of the chemicals or pollutants include Mercury, Pesticides, and PCBs. Today, the United States approves the use of over 75,000 chemicals. These chemicals and pollutants can have detrimental effects on brain development, stomach/intestines, lungs, skin, liver, and kidneys. In addition, many of these toxic substances have been found to cause cancer, and disrupt endocrine, cardiovascular, hearing, vision, immune and reproductive activity.

By avoiding the exposure to heavy chemical contaminants and purchasing products that pledge to be non-toxic, you can help protect the health of yourself, your family, and the environment.
