Green Outdoor Settings reduced symptoms of ADHD in Children
"Overall, our findings indicate that exposure to ordinary natural settings in the course of common after-school and weekend activities may be widely effective in reducing attention deficit symptoms in children” proved a study recently published in the peer-reviewed American Journal of Public Health.
Asking the question “Do green outdoor activities reduce symptoms of ADHD” the study found “consistently for children across a wide range of individual, residential and case characteristics, outdoor settings resulted in more positive aftereffects on symptoms than did other settings.”
The study compared natural outdoor settings with built outdoor and indoor environments. Not surprisingly, the study raised the potential question, could daily doses of “green time” supplement medications and behavioral approaches to ADHD.”
