Eat Locally This August
Where does your food come from? This August, join other environmentally conscious Bay Area residents and eat within 100 miles of your home. On average, food in America is shipped 1,500 miles to get from the farm to your plate. The globalization of the food industry is causing serious damage to our environment, health, and community. As corporations own and run the majority of U.S. food production, including processing and shipping, we are caught in a system in which the true cost of our food goes uncalculated. Increases in air pollution, global warming, loss of family farms and local dollars, all contribute to the unsustainable way in which American agriculture works.
Take responsibility for your local region this August and support alternatives to corporate food production. Shopping at local farmer's markets, CSA's, and grocers shows support for the health of the community and our environment!
