Overview

Introduction to Leadership In Green Health Care prepares health professionals to become leaders in the emerging discipline of Sustainable Medicine. Sustainable medicine recognizes the link between the environment, medicine and human health and seeks to provide better health care while protecting our limited environmental and medical resources.

This introductory course reviews the most up-to-date theory and research behind sustainable medicine and introduces participants to the best practices for initiating green health care— from greening their offices, to offering affordable and renewable medical treatments, and promoting community and environmental health.

Participants collaborate online to exchange strategies and pioneer ideas for affecting change within their communities and medical practices. The online, interactive dialogue among like-minded professionals creates a supportive and inspiring learning environment.

Program as an Integral Process

Introduction to Leadership in Green Health Care is a first-of-its kind integral process course for health care professionals. An Integral Process creates a shift in thinking, feeling, and acting. To accomplish this, our process considers not only the problem at hand, but also one’s personal feelings that are evoked. In using this approach, participants not only learn about a topic but also develop new insight and awareness, which leads to creative ideas and solutions.

As the presenter of the course, Teleosis recognizes that health care involves a complex interplay of medical, physical, psychological, and social influences and that Sustainable Medicine requires a different way of thinking, feeling and acting. Using an integral process, Introduction to Leadership in Green Health Care explores participant’s values, beliefs, experiences and expectations about medicine and health care as a means of introducing new, more effective ways of evaluating medical action that colleagues and patients can more easily embrace.

Throughout the program, medical practitioners discuss links between themselves, their patients, their communities, and the environment. The many different disciplines presented in the course and those represented by the participants offer a unique forum for positive, integral actions for improving health and the environment.
