By combining elements of a wellness spa with pain-free, environmentally sound dentistry, Fred and Ina Pockrass have created a model of care in which dentistry can transform itself to create a calm and healing experience for its clients.

Transcendentist® provides a safe and environmentally friendly means of reducing the risk of mercury and other toxicity in the body by using state-of-the-art techniques, biocompatible materials, and handmade restorations. Certified by the Alameda County Green Business Program, Transcendentist® is the first “ecological dentist” in the country.

Dr. Fred Pockrass has been practicing general and restorative dentistry for over 23 years. In addition to his dental degree, Dr. Fred Pockrass holds a PhD. in meditation, is a certified Tai-Chi and lifelong yoga practitioner. Ina Pockrass co-created Transcendentist® in 2002, incorporating her background in intellectual property law with Dr. Fred’s practice of dentistry. Ina brings her experience of working with a several prestigious law firms, while serving on the Board of Directors and Advisory Circle for Circle of Life Foundation, founded by Julia Butterfly Hill. Together, the Pockrasses provide this community with dental care that exemplifies the principles of ESM.
