2007 Green Home EXPO
The City of Berkeley presents the East Bay's largest single day collection of Universal Waste products. Teleosis will be hosting a FREE Safe Medicine Disposal drop-off* and Mercury Thermometer Exchange. Rid your home of toxic waste including unused medicines, mercury thermometers, old batteries, electronics, computer monitors, and more!
Schedule:
Sunday, August 5, 2007
12 noon - 5 pm
Make your Home Mercury-Free!
Did you know that mercury is a metal toxic to humans, wildlife and the environment? During the year 2000, nearly 17 tons of mercury from thermometers alone entered municipal waste streams nationwide.
Bring your old mercury thermometers in a sealed zip lock bag and receive a FREE replacement digital thermometer courtesy of EBMUD (limit 1 per household).
Clear out your Medicine Cabinets!
Participate in our Green Pharmacy Pollution Prevention Campaign by bringing your unused and expired medicines** in for environmentally sound disposal. Protect wildlife living in rivers, lakes, and streams. Take-back your drugs and prevent contamination of our waterways and landfills.
**Accepting Non-Controlled Medicines Only!
We will accept over-the-counter medications and supplements as well as non-controlled prescriptions. (A general rule of thumb is controlled substances have potential for addiction -- if unsure, contact your health provider). Click here for a complete list of What You Can and Can't Dispose.
Instructions for medicine return:
1. Fill out the Unused & Expired Medicine Registry and bring it with you to the medicine return (Download PDF). This form will also be available at the event.
2. Bring your unused and expired medications in their original containers (mark out personal information).
