Our Mission
The Teleosis Institute is devoted to developing effective, sustainable healthcare provided by professionals who serve as environmental stewards. The Institute has three major goals:
- To educate health professionals about the principles and practices of Ecologically Sustainable Medicine (ESM)
- To build a community-based network for professionals providing Green Health Care (GHC)
- To provide access to high quality, cost-effective, sustainable medical services benefiting underserved populations and the environment in which we live
A not-for-profit organization, the Teleosis Institute was founded by Dr. Joel Kreisberg, DC, CCH, a healthcare practitioner and environmental educator. The Institute is based in Berkeley, California.
Teleosis is derived from the Greek and can be translated as "greater self-realization."

Our Programs
At the Teleosis Institute, we provide tools and resources for healthcare professionals to develop environmentally sound care strategies and create a new vision of
Green Health Care.
Teleosis serves healthcare professionals through four, interlinked program areas. These are:
- The educational program, which includes Symbiosis: the Journal of Ecologically Sustainable Medicine, environmental information brochures, classes, lectures, discussion groups, and online resources
- The Green Health Care (GHC) Program, which guides health professionals in creating green health clinics, becoming environmental health advocates, and practicing ESM
- The ESM Network, a national, grassroots network of healthcare professionals who are expanding the vision of Green Health Care
- The clinical program, which delivers sustainable medical services to underserved populations
