What is Ecologically Sustainable Medicine? (ESM)

Ecologically Sustainable Medicines are effective healing and wellness practices that do no harm to people and the global environment. With ESM we can achieve sustainable levels of personal and planetary health and vitality...

ESM focuses on prevention, lifestyle and complementary healthcare that is more affordable than standard high-technology, hospital-based medicine and can be more equitably distributed. These practices are non-polluting and protective of the environment.

Ecologically Sustainable Medicines adhere to the following criteria:

  • Safe and harmless
  • Clean and non-toxic
  • Cost-effective
  • Non-polluting
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Renewable
  • Protective of the quality of life on earth, the environment and earth's natural resources
  • Synergistic with human health and planetary well-being
  • Connected with the web of life

It is the belief of Teleosis that ESM should be the first line of defense for acute and chronic disease as these approaches are environmentally and economically sustainable. However, this view is not exclusive of mainstream care, which should be used judiciously as the situation warrants.

ESM serves as a set of guiding criteria for the work of the Teleosis Institute.
